Amblemark is in development for iPhone, starting in Sydney. It is not yet available to download from the App Store. Screens shown on this website preview the app with example progress.

Email us about a problem, a place that has changed, an artwork concern or a privacy question.

For a technical problem, include your app version, iPhone model, iOS version and what happened. A place name and a cropped screenshot can help. Please leave out passwords, private addresses and unnecessary location history.

Location and discoveries

Choose an available starter region and allow location access to discover nearby places. If a discovery does not register, check Location Services and Precise Location in your iPhone settings, check that discovery is not paused, and give the phone time to obtain a reliable location outdoors.

A place may be unavailable in your region or may not meet the app’s discovery conditions. Visiting an illustration on this website does not earn a stamp in the app.

The compass points toward a place

It is a direction, not a walking route. Follow public paths, signs and access restrictions; do not enter private or closed areas. Conditions, opening hours and accessibility can change. You never need to take a risk to collect a stamp.

Pause and background options

Use Pause discovery to stop discovery. Optional precise background discovery and experimental passive discovery are separate settings and are off by default. You can also change location and notification permissions in iPhone Settings. See how location is used.

Maps and connectivity

The app includes its place catalogue and artwork. Apple maps and external links may need an internet connection. The compass is not a substitute for a map or local directions.

Your collection and a new phone

Progress is stored on your device. There is currently no Amblemark account, cloud sync or recovery service, and the app’s progress journals are excluded from device backups. Deleting the app, losing the phone or changing devices can lose progress. Please do not reinstall the app as a troubleshooting step before contacting us.

Practice progress is stored separately from real discoveries. The current app does not offer a comprehensive in-app erase or reset control. Pausing discovery or changing preferences does not erase saved records; contact us if you need help understanding the available controls.

Something changed at a place?

Tell us its name and what needs updating: closure, access, location, description or imagery. Avoid sending somebody else’s personal information. Illustrations are artistic interpretations, not current photographs or guarantees of access.

There is no public App Store download link or website checkout yet. Future availability and any pricing will be shown clearly when announced.
